What drawing materials do Fashion designers use when whipping up a design?

I wanna design a prom gown for my friend and i have the amateur skills. Just enough for a high school prom anyway. But I’m puzzled. What do the fashion designers use in creating sketches? Especially for coloring and inking. Do they use watercolors? And the type of paper to draw on? Please, I need help, stat. Prom’s next week.
I mean, do they use colored pencils? or crayons? or oil pastels? and for the inking do they use like what, gel pens, or technical pens?
I’m not talking about the actual product/dress. I’m talking about the sketch.

They usually just make a rough sketch…and find a material that they like whatever colour it may be. They might make points like …black top white bottom. They don’t get into great detail in sketches because its just supposed to be fast. they rough it up then write the necessary details.
a pencil and paper….nothing fancy!
